The expected hiring range for this position is:

$42.90-$44.52.

About the Role:
Fermilab is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic IV to join the Infrastructure Services Division (ISD). Under direct supervision, this individual will perform journeyman level mechanical, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical systems and industrial equipment in a 24x7 maintenance operation.

What your day-to-day as a Maintenance Mechanic IV at Fermilab will look like:

  • Respond, troubleshoot, and complete service work orders and emergency equipment repair work by repairing, maintaining, servicing and operating heating, cooling, and ventilating equipment, Industrial Cooling Water (ICW) and Low Conductivity Water (LCW) systems, domestic water and sewer systems, pneumatic systems, pumps, air heat exchangers, plumbing, and surface water systems.
  • Perform routine operational maintenance work orders on systems and equipment.
  • Perform programmed preventive and predictive maintenance via work orders on mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Document work activities for utilization in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Recommend improvements in operations of maintenance and repairs of mechanical systems.
  • May be required to interpret correct temperature and pressure relationships (superheat and sub-cooling) for AC/Refrigeration systems.
  • Attend all necessary ES&H and FESS training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abide by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • High school diploma and 5+ years of electrical maintenance experience.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical repair and safety procedures.
