The expected hiring range for this position is:

$17.75-$30.00.

About the Role:
Fermilab is seeking an On-Call Day Care Teacher. This individual under general supervision will have responsibility for the daily care of an assigned group of children.

What your day-to-day as an On-Call Day Care Teacher at Fermilab will look like:

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of engaging and age-appropriate activities to support the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of children, which may require individual tailoring to various cultural differences.
  • Ensures the children are adequately fed, rested and physically clean.
  • Provides initial instruction and assistance in developing the child’s interest in play and control of physical functions.
  • Provides input during assessment of each child’s development, reports perceived problems, and assists in finding appropriate solutions.
  • Monitors and ensures appropriate and equal care is given to each child in a manner consistent with their needs, age, and stage of development.
  • Monitors activities and ensures they’re conducted in an equitable manner.
  • Ensures the group of children is exposed to emergency and evacuation procedures through periodic drills and games.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with students' parents and co-teachers and participates in parent conferences when necessary.
  • Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Associate’s degree with 12 complete semester hours in early childhood education and/or child development.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Working knowledge of age-appropriate curriculum design and activity planning for different developmental stages.
  • Ability to implement inclusive teaching strategies for a diverse population of students.
  • Ability to adjust to changing needs of the classroom and manage multiple tasks, such as lesson planning, classroom setup, and child monitoring.
  • Ability to manage emotional stress while maintaining a positive and nurturing environment.

Work Arrangement:
Please note that the described work arrangement is subject to change on business needs and is not guaranteed to be final.

  • Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
