Join the power movement as a Manager, Supply Chain – Electrical Systems


The Manager, Supply Chain leads the team in charge of supply chain activities for Electrical Systems: strategic sourcing, tactical procurement, supplier management, supplier development and reliability. They build and develop the team of Supplier Integration Managers and Supplier Development Engineer embedded within the project teams and are accountable for meeting the internal customers’ needs. The Manager, Supply Chain position is a working manager role, and will be hands on in the development, implementation, and execution of sourcing strategies for SPARC, ARC and other projects.

What you'll do:
  • Team Manager:
  • Train, support, develop and coach the members of the team
  • Have management responsibility for meeting cost, quality and delivery objectives
  • In close coordination with the engineering leads for Electrical Systems, plan and assign work, manage the workload and define priorities as required
  • Act as an escalation point to solve issues
  • Ensure process adherence for strategic sourcing, purchase orders placement/management and supplier quality
  • Report on project status, risks and issues to the supply chain and the systems leadership teams
  • Lead change management and process definition/improvement initiatives
  • Recruit new team members as additional headcount is approved

  • Individual contributor:
  • Elaborate and execute project procurement or commodity strategies
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling activities with the assigned planners in a matrixed organization (functionally reporting to the head of Supply Planning)
  • Coordinate supplier development and reliability activities with the assigned supplier development engineers
  • Drive sourcing projects, coordinating cross-functionally
  • Negotiate short and long-term agreements for parts, subassemblies, finished goods, equipment, and/or services
  • Create and manage purchase orders
  • Monitor suppliers throughout the execution of the contracts
  • Support cost savings initiatives, lead time improvement projects, and quality improvement projects
  • Visit suppliers as necessary to conduct business reviews or check on project milestones
  • Negotiate internally and externally at all levels or with people of influence frequently


What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, finance or other related fields
  • 10+ years’ related work experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, engineering or other relevant supplier-focused environment
  • Successful experience managing and developing a team
  • Previous experience sourcing equipment, parts and services
  • Ability to negotiate complex contracts, including build to specification contracts
  • Ability to develop sourcing strategies for projects or commodities
  • Deep understanding of supply chain and ERP best practices
  • Proven experience in supporting critical new product introduction activities for highly technical products
  • Ability to communicate with internal engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers in a collaborative way 
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Customer service mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Exceptional creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate integrity, respect, attention to detail, collaboration, creativity and agility
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic environment

Bonus points for:
  • Previous experience sourcing equipment for industrial electrical systems, energy storage systems, electronics and/or instrumentation and control
  • Master’s degree in the field of Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance or other related field
  • Previous experience in a high growth environment


Must-have Requirements:
  • Perform extended activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, sitting, etc.
  • Perform extended periods of phone or teleconference work
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call regularly; travel expected to be minimum 25% including International travel
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics

$110,000 - $185,000 a year
Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefitsThe actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Benefits include:
